Two and a half years after the emacipation proclamation was signed , January 1st 1863, on June 19th 1865, Major General Gordon Granger led Union troops into Galveston,Texas to announce that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free. Today we will be celebrating black Independence! Keeping the spirit of junteenth alive with a live dj, great food fresh off the grill, bounce house and carnival games for the kids! Network on the Nawf also wants to honor our Black​ father's with a special dedication. Please join us in this fun fest! A Black fest!
